The Department of Political Science was established in the year 1995 offering an undergraduate course. Since then it has successfully launched a number of courses including B.A. Honours, M.A. Political Science, P.G. Diploma in Gandhian Studies and Ph.D.

The programmes offered include a wide range of study in Political Theory and Philosophy, Indian Government Politics and Structures of Administration, Comparative Politics and international Relations. The aim is to inculcate an aptitude for understanding the national and global political scenario to facilitate the active participation of the students in the successful working of democratic tradition. The broad objective of the programmes is to cultivate a sense of social responsibility, leadership quality and to generate global awareness.

In order to promote a better understanding of the subject and strengthen the analytical bent of mind, students are provided ample opportunities to interact with political analysts and experts in the field. To keep pace with the dynamism of the discipline, the faculty takes initiative to keep pace with the latest developments on the national and global political front.
