This paper focus on details of the freedom struggle of India and the growth of constitutional and parliamentary democracy in India through the various Acts passed during the British regime. The course aims at imparting knowledge of the history of constitutional development in India, to the students. This will serve as background for understanding the basis and growth of constitutional government of India since independence. It incorporates the influences that shaped the course of modern India. It enables the students to understand the background of the Indian Constitution.
