Under the ageis of AKAM, Department of political Science conduct a guest lecture on “Globalization of Terrorism” on 14February 2023.Three years before on 14 February, Indian soldiers faced the deadly terrorist attack at Pulwama .Hundreds of soldiers lost their life in this terrorist attack. Every year ,Department of Political Science conduct some events on 14 February to paid our sincere condolence to the martyrs of Pulwama Attack. This year department conducts the guest lecture on Google meet platform. The guest lecture taken by to make Dr. Priyanka Jain, Assistant Professor in Noida International University (NIU) . Dr. Priyanka Jain is a Gold Medalist in Sociology from Jamia Milia Islamia University and a graduate from reputed Lady Sri Ram College, Delhi University. She has done her Ph.D. from prestigious institution Malviya National Institute of Technology (MNIT) Jaipur, Rajasthan on “Impact of Transnational Migration on Identities of Chakmas in Northeast India and consequential shifts in India’s Foreign Policy.” For the same, she has extensively researched in geographically isolated terrains of Assam, Tripura, Meghalaya, and Arunachal. Presently, Editor-in-Chief of NIU Journal of Social Sciences(NIUJSS), a peer-reviewed journal.
Dr.Priyanka present the true picture of terrorism that the world faces in various ways. Terrorism is the unlawful use of force or violence against persons or property to intimidate or coerce government or its citizens to further certain political or social objectives. Law enforcement generally recognizes two types of terrorism: domestic and international.
According to global terror base, 0.05% people kill during to terrorism.
The term terrorism was used for the first time in 1794 in French revolution. In 2016, 11,000 terrorist attacks were recorded. One of the reason of terrorism is to affect large number of people and to create threat. There are various forms of terrorism like social terrorism, economic terrorism, political terrorism,
cultural terrorism and religious terrorism. One of the popular form of terrorism is to make hostages
and economic terrorism. Religious terrorism is related to the Islamaization. Britisher called extremist leaders like Bhagat Singh etc. as terrorist. It is noted that freedom fighter of
one nation can be called as a terrorist by some other nation. Taliban and Al-Qaida are declared as terrorist organizations by SC. Some ways of terrorism are as
1. Anarchist – those who go against the state. Example- North-East insurgency.
2. Religious- Islamic group
She describes the Impact of terrorism of not on society but on the entire nations. It cripples the economy of the country. It lead to poverty. Example- Afghanistan, Pakistan etc. It disturbed the peace of the country Loss of life and resources .Relations between the countries are spoil.
Thus, it become very important to combat terrorism at the global level. Very informative session is conducted by Dr Priyanka .After the lecture , students asked numbers of questions which were answered by Dr Priyanka. In the end of session ,vote of thanks is given by Dr Archana Gupta ,HoD of Department of Political Science
