In order to celebrate the Constitution Day, the department of Political Science and International Relations organized an event in university, on (20th December 2024) to enlighten all the students about the importance of Constitution Day.
Constitution Day also known as “SAMVIDHAN DIVAS” is celebrated in our country on 26th November every year to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India. On 26th November 1949, the Constituent Assembly of India adopted the Constitution of India, which came into effect from 26th January 1950.A significant occasion that marks the adoption of the Constitution of our country. On this day, back in 1949, the Constitution was adopted, laying the foundation for our democratic framework and safeguarding the rights and freedoms of every citizen. The Constitution is not just a legal document but a guiding force that ensures justice, equality, and liberty for all. It defines the structure of our government, the roles of our leaders, and the rights of the people. It serves as a living document, adapting to the needs and challenges of society while upholding the core principles of democracy.
A Preamble Reading Session is a meaningful activity where students collectively read and reflect upon the Preamble of the Indian Constitution. This session aims to instill a sense of responsibility, unity, and respect for the principles enshrined in the Constitution. By revisiting the core values of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity, students gain a deeper understanding of their roles as responsible citizens.
During the session, students often take a solemn pledge to uphold and protect the dignity of the Constitution. This pledge emphasizes their commitment to safeguarding democratic values, promoting harmony, and ensuring equality in their personal and social lives. Such an initiative not only fosters patriotism but also strengthens their moral compass.
Following the Preamble reading, students were invited to register on an innovative platform named constitution 75,(https://constitution75.com) specifically developed to celebrate the preamble. This platform facilitated an interactive session where participants could explore various aspects of constitutional knowledge, record a video of them speaking the preamble. Upon successful completion of the session, participants were awarded e-certificates, which served as a testament to their engagement and understanding of constitutional themes.
Ultimately, Preamble Reading Sessions inspire students to internalize and practice these values, contributing to the development of a just and equitable society.
