Objective of the workshop/seminar/activity: To discuss the pattern of Indian Political structure and acquainted with the reformatory patterns of administration process in Netherlands.

On Monday,8 July 2024, the Department of Political science and International Relations in collaboration with IIS-TIE (The International Cell) organized a Youth Exchange programme with student delegation of Leiden University, Netherlands.
The event opened with welcome address given by Dr Archana Gupta (HoD) of Department of Political Science and International Relations.Ms. Harshita Sharma addressing the delegation from the Leiden University, Netherlands. She drew the attention of the students towards the democratic practices that had been prevalent in the Indian subcontinent since the ancient times and how India has inherited all the practices, by also incorporating the democratic ideals in her constitution. She also mentioned that India is the mother of democracy.
After her welcome note, Dr. Archana Gupta was invited to acquaint the students with the past and contemporary politics of India. She was also asked by one of the students about the media propaganda that is prevalent in the west w.r.t challenges that Indian democracy faces. On this, Dr. Gupta put forth varied arguments and also shared personal experiences as to how dissent is one of the most important aspects of democracy. The discussion then went on with deliberating over the course of political actions over the recent past which has made India stand as the voice of the global south.
Thereon, Ms. Harshita Sharma highlighted the similarities between the state practices and internal structures of the Netherlands and India. Students came forward to express their views and made remarks about their opinions about constitutional monarchy that they witness in their country back home. One of the student of department Chahat Jain displayed number of thing to reconized by student delegation.Chahat show Logo of VOC - Dutch east India company from the modern history times ,Communist manifesto - book by Karl Marx and hegel, Taj Mahal ,Hawa Mahal ,A depiction of Alexandar and Aristole European union flag ,Statue of unity and Tennis court oath to the student delegation.
The students of department also interact with the student delegation by asking them about the working pattern of Netherland and various other structures .The student asked the question on about the government structure of Netherland .In that session the student delegation gived the answer of all the question on numbers of regional and international issues.The interactive session prove useful for the student of IIS (Deemed to be University ) and Student Delegation of Netherland University.
