Global Politics
This course introduces students to the key debates on the meaning and nature of globalization by addressing its political, economic, social, cultural and technological dimensions. It imparts an understanding of the working of the world economy The course also offers insights into key contemporary global issues such as the proliferation of nuclear weapons, ecological issues, international terrorism, and human security before concluding with a debate on the phenomenon of global governance.

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: CO43: assess the interplay between globalization and various social, political, and cultural dynamics worldwide through case studies and real-world examples CO44: examine the role and impact of global resistance movements and NGOs in addressing economic disparities and injustices within the global economy. CO45: analyse the role of global governance mechanisms and state actors in addressing ecological and nuclear proliferation issues, identifying strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement. and take appropriate positions on contemporary global issues. CO46: develop an in-depth understanding of the dynamics of contemporary international issues and analyse the role of non-state actors in resolving international issues CO47: assess shifts in global power and governance structures, including the decline of US hegemony and the emergence of new power centers, through historical and contemporary perspectives. CO48: contribute effectively in Course specific interaction |
