The Department of Political Science organized a movie screening “MAACHIS” on 31st August 2017 in AV Hall for all the semester students of BA, BA.B.Ed and BA (Hons.). The movie is based on the perspective on terrorist attack. The title of the film is used as a metaphor that conveys that the youth of any nation are matchsticks that could get ignited due to the deficiencies in the political and policing systems. The film portrays the circumstances surrounding the rise of the Sikh insurgency in Punjab in the 1980s and traces the transformation of youth to a dreaded terrorist.
The movie benefitted the students to understand the separatist demands of Khalistan during 1970s and 1980s and subsequent events and their impact on Indian political scene.
