Objective of the workshop/seminar/activity: To make student acquint about the horror memories of Partition which was face by our past generation and also make them aware about truth that we get independence on the cost of partition.
Summary/Description (max 500 words):
To Partition Horrors Remembrance Day is a national memorial day in India on 14 August, first declared by prime minister Narendra Modi in 2021, that commemorates the victims and sufferings of people during the partition of India. The day remembers the sufferings of many Indians during the partition. It aims to remind Indians the need to remove social divisions, disharmony and to further strengthen the spirit of oneness, social harmony and human empowerment.
The Department of Political Science, IIS (Deemed to be University) organized an online expert talk to help the students understand the horrors witnessed by people during the partition and to commemorate the sufferings of the victims during that dark period in the Indian history. An online expert talk is conducted by the Dr.Ruchika S Rathi in which zoom link shared among the students .Through the ppt presentation ,an effort is make to visualized the actual sufferings of the victims of the partition .A conscious effort was made by the department to remind the participants regarding the largest displacement of human population in the last century, which also resulted in loss of life , basic identity and material possessions of a large number of people
Outcome of the activity/event/seminar/workshop: The Exhibition was successful in portraying the sufferings of millions of people during partition of India and create a basic understanding among students regarding the partition horrors.
