Objective: 

This course will enable students to understand and known research methodology, statistical methods, errors in observation & calculations and numerical methods.

Unit I: 

• Research in Social Sciences: Meaning, Process, Scope, Ethics of Research, Problems and Importance. Pure and Applied Research. • Scientific Research: Methods, Types and Value.

Unit II: 

• Variable, Hypothesis, Concepts. • Models and Paradigms: Meaning, Function and Types. • Theory building.

Unit III: 

• Research Design: Meaning, Importance, Characteristics. • Types of Research Design: Descriptive, Exploratory and Experimental. • Construction of Research Design.

Unit IV: 

• Techniques of Data Collection: Questionnaire, Observation, Interview, Case study. • Sampling: Meaning & Types. • Classification and Tabulation. • Data analysis :Graphical Representation, Frequency Distribution

Unit V: 

• Measures of Central Tendency: Mean, Median, Mode. • Measures of Dispersion: Range, Standard Deviation, Correlation, Regression. • Report writing  Role of computer in research
