Summary/Description (max 500 words):
On October 5, 2024, in honor of Gandhi Jayanti, the Department of Political Science and International Relations organized a poster exhibition at our university. This annual event aimed to promote democratic values and highlight their relevance to Indian society, especially in the context of Mahatma Gandhi’s enduring principles of non-violence, peace, and unity. Students from the first semester of the Bachelor of Arts program enthusiastically participated in the exhibition, bringing vibrant energy to the celebration and showcasing a creative interpretation of Gandhi’s ideals.
The exhibition attracted participation from over 60 students and faculty members. Forty posters were displayed, covering a diverse range of themes that were organized into three main categories: "Vistas of Democracy," "Social Justice," and "Gender Issues." Each category presented unique perspectives on the teachings of Gandhi and their application in contemporary India.
The event received an overwhelmingly positive response, with students and faculty members commending the depth of research and creativity displayed in the posters. Each student put significant effort into understanding Gandhi’s principles and creatively expressing them in their posters. Their enthusiasm was evident as they explained the meaning behind their work, engaging in discussions about Gandhi’s philosophy and its relevance in modern times. The exhibition not only provided students with a platform to showcase their talents but also fostered a deeper understanding of Gandhi’s values, encouraging reflection on their role in today’s world.
The success of the exhibition highlights the importance of events like these in inspiring young minds to explore the legacy of Gandhi and the democratic values he championed. It also demonstrated how art and education can come together to celebrate national heroes, encouraging students to take pride in their cultural heritage. Overall, the Gandhi Jayanti Poster Exhibition was a vibrant celebration of Gandhi’s legacy, leaving a lasting impact on the students and faculty members who attended.
