Objective of the Event: To commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and honour his role in national integration.
To create awareness among students about the significance of Rastriya Ekta Diwas and the values of unity, patriotism, and national harmony.
To provide a creative platform for students to express their understanding of Sardar Patel’s contribution through posters and visual ideas.
To foster a sense of national pride, collective responsibility, and appreciation for India’s unity in diversity and to promote interactive learning and engage students in academic-cultural activities beyond the classroom.
SUMMARY REPORT
The Department of Political Science and International Relations at IIS (Deemed to Be University), Jaipur, organized a Picture-Poster Exhibition on 31 October 2025 to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, celebrated as National Unity Day (Rastriya Ekta Diwas). The event was held at the Back Stage Area of the campus at 10:30 a.m., and all students from the department were required to attend. This exhibition aimed to honour the immense contribution of Sardar Patel in unifying India and to inspire students with his values of national integration, determination, and leadership. The exhibition showcased a diverse range of posters and creative illustrations prepared by students. Each poster artistically captured key themes related to the life, legacy, and vision of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Students depicted his role in the integration of more than 500 princely states, his firm leadership during the early years of the Indian Republic, and his unwavering belief in unity and national harmony. Many posters highlighted Patel as the “Iron Man of India”, symbolizing strength, integrity, and national commitment. The exhibition reminded how Patel worked tirelessly to strengthen administrative systems and laid the foundation for a strong, unified nation and promoted the values of unity, patriotism, and selfless service for national development. His efforts helped preserve India's territorial integrity and shape its democratic structure.
Faculty members interacted with the students to understand the concepts behind their artwork. They appreciated the students’ efforts and creativity, acknowledging their thoughtful expressions. The teachers highlighted the depth of ideas reflected in the posters and paintings. They praised students for using visual art as a medium to communicate social values. Faculty emphasized that such exhibitions encourage academic learning beyond textbooks. They also noted that these platforms foster civic awareness and deepen national consciousness among learners. The exhibition witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across different classes. Learners actively engaged with one another and shared the meanings behind their posters. They exchanged ideas and discussed the themes represented in their artwork. Students showed great interest in appreciating each other's creativity and effort. They also interacted with the display boards and visual messages thoughtfully. Overall, the event encouraged students to reflect deeply on the significance of National Unity Day.
The event successfully created an educational and patriotic environment for all participants. It encouraged students to engage meaningfully with the theme of national unity. Through creative artwork, students expressed admiration for India's values and heritage. The exhibition offered a platform to honour and remember one of India’s greatest nation-builders, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The exhibition concluded with group photographs of students and faculty members. These pictures captured the enthusiasm and unity of all participants. Students proudly posed beside their creative artworks and displays. Faculty joined in to celebrate the success and meaningful impact of the event. The joyful moment also served as a memory of shared learning and collaboration. This closing scene reflected the collective spirit of togetherness and the message of unity the event aimed to promote.
